Before we start, you’ll know what to expect
We do our best to provide clear estimates based on your insurance information and the care recommended. Final coverage and costs are determined by your specific plan and what your employer has agreed to with the insurance company.
Delta Dental
We’re in-network with Delta Dental PPO, Premier, and Healthy Kids plans. We’ll check your benefits, help you understand how they apply to your visit, and file claims on your behalf.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
We are out of network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan plans, however we do accept assignment of benefits, which may result in additional savings for you. We’ll review what your plan typically helps with and provide an estimate before care.

Other insurance plans
We work with most other insurance plans and care for many out-of-network patients who value the high-quality care they receive here. Unless your plan requires an in-network provider, we’re happy to see you, submit claims on your behalf, and explain how your out-of-network benefits may help with costs.
Our Grand Haven location is in-network with additional insurance companies. Please call for a complimentary benefits check.

Healthy Kids and Medicaid
We are able to bill Healthy Kids plans through Delta Dental.
We do not accept adult Medicaid. If you have questions about whether your child’s plan is included, we’re happy to look it up and explain your options.

Membership plan (for patients without insurance)
If you don’t have insurance, our MI Smiles Membership Plan offers:
- A set number of cleanings, exams, and x?rays for one annual fee
- Discounts on most additional treatment
- No waiting periods, no deductibles, and no claims to file

Do you work with my insurance?
We’re in-network with Delta Dental PPO, Premier, and Healthy Kids plans, and we accept assignment of benefits for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan plans. Yes. We offer a complimentary benefits check. We’ll review what your plan typically helps with and provide an estimate. We do our best to be clear, but the final amount your insurance pays is based on your specific plan and what your employer has agreed to.
What preventive services are usually covered?
Coverage varies by plan. Many patients receive two exams and cleanings per year, plus x?rays, with little or no out-of-pocket cost. We’ll verify your specific coverage and talk through any estimated copays or deductibles before we begin.
How do estimates and final costs work?
We create an estimate based on the information we receive from your insurance and the care recommended.
Because every plan is different, and insurance companies make the final payment decision, your portion is an estimate, not a guarantee. If things come back differently than expected, we’ll review the explanation of benefits with you and go over options.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. If you have a remaining balance, we can review Sunbit or CareCredit financing options with you, or discuss other arrangements allowed by our financial policy. Our goal is to help you get needed care in a way that works for your budget.
Do you accept HSA/FSA?
Yes. We can typically accept HSA/FSA cards for eligible services, and we’re happy to provide an itemized receipt if your plan requires it.
Do you accept Healthy Kids or Medicaid?
We are able to bill Healthy Kids Delta Dental plans, but not Blue Cross Blue Shield Healthy Kids plans.
